Here’s a blast from the past. Seattle band Critters Buggin’ [also] will be at the Doug Fir Lounge on Jul 3rd.
Critters Buggin’ was The New Bohemians (without Eddie Brickell) and with Skerik, the saxophonist that joined Sadhappy. The drummer Matt was the original drummer for Pearl Jam, and appears in the cover of the first Pearl Jam album. I randomly met Matt’s girlfriend on the bus and we shared poetry and she invited me to the show before I figured out the connection to Sadhappy.
I’m pretty sure the first time I saw them play was at The Weathered Wall, which is just one of the many venues that no longer exists. I also saw them play at the OK Hotel, which also no longer exists … or, rather, I think it does but the building was condemned after one of the big earthquakes.
A rare evening with Seattle skronk-funk-jazz madmen
